Danette Eddy

A native of Newfoundland, Danette Eddy is an accomplished fiddler and a classically trained violinist. With an enviable list of achievements at a young age. she is nationally recognized as one of Canada's finest fiddlers. She represented Newfoundland in the Canadian Grand Masters' Old Tyme Fiddling Championships for five consecutive years, and has shared the Canada Day Celebrations stage on Parliament Hill with 19 of Canada's best fiddlers (including Natalie MacMaster, Ashley MacIsaac, Ned Landry and Graham Townsend). She has performed as a special guest  performer with The Irish Descendants, Great Big Sea and Spirit of the West, and delighted audiences in Newfoundland, Canada, the U.S. and Britain with her energetic and charismatic fiddle playing.

Motion Potion is the first album of her own compositions. As a violinist and fiddler, she has drawn on classical and traditional influences to create her own distinctive sound; a blend of her classical training and her Newfoundland heritage. Inspired by Emile Benoit, Rufus Guinchard, Mozart, Beethoven and Bach, she brings a new twist to traditional fiddling. The result is a collection of tunes that are mature and confident, emphasizing her individuality as a performer and composer.
