SingSong Inc
Welcome to the SingSong Inc. web site. Here’s how it works.
At the top of this page, you’ll see CD covers going by on the carousel. If you’re looking for a specific item, you can click on any cover and it will take you to its dedicated page where you’ll find the music. You can preview each track, and download individual tracks or the full CD, including artwork and liner notes.
If you’re just browsing, you can find individual artists by clicking on the dropdown (Artists) menu or, if you’re looking for a particular style of Newfoundland and Labrador folk music, you’ll find Ballads, Instrumental Music, etc. in the dropdown (Catalogue) menu.
There are two outliers on the site. The first is a CD-ROM of Kenneth Peacock’s Songs of the Newfoundland Outports, featuring music, lyrics, recordings, photos, and notes for 517 songs collected from 1951 to 1961 by National Museum researcher Kenneth Peacock. This is a computer product for the traditional folk song enthusiast, and the most comprehensive collection of Newfoundland folk songs ever compiled.
The second is the SingSong Singles page, a collection of individual songs previously unreleased on CD. This is a response to the pandemic shutdown, since we can’t do live performances for the foreseeable future, and an outlet for musicians and songwriters to make their music available to their fans. Songs will be added regularly as the shutdown continues.
